CORNELL UNIVERSITY DEPARTMENT OF PHYSIOLOGY

The Department of Physiology at Weill Medical College, Cornell University, is a 24,000 square foot renovation spanning five buildings on two floors of the Medical School. The project reorganizes the department into wet lab and dry lab components: the dry labs are computer intensive research facilities, and the wet labs are an open loft arrangement with adjoining specialty rooms. The corridor that spans the project is into a space that creates an identity for the Department, articulating the separate wet lab and dry lab components through material distinctions, united by a sculptural ceiling.
