In Manhattan's Upper West Side, Stonehill & Taylor is designing a new hotel for Hampshire Hotels & Resorts, owners of The Dream, The Night, and The Time hotels. Starting with reuse of the shells and floors of a 95-year-old building, the conservation effort includes green features such as high-efficiency guestroom energy management systems that power down the rooms when not occupied, lighting systems that incorporate state-of-the-art LED sources, heat pump technology, and waste heat reclamation. Designed to mimic a conservatory, and full of local foliage, the hotel will have the feel of an academy of education overtaken by Central Park. |
