WINNER: 2010 HOSPITALITY DESIGN AWARD
Stonehill & Taylor was hired for the complete rebranding, redesign, and rethinking of this existing venerable flagship hotel for Best Western - Hampshire Hotels. The final result was the creation of a new, distinctly original prototype for the chain. Taking a cue from the name of the property, the design is a light-hearted approach to the origins and current state of America’s commander-in-chief and two-party political system. The scope of this project included a new façade, lobby, bar/lounge, and all guest accommodations, including a fitness center, conference and business rooms, corridors, guestrooms, and suites. The design palette was developed to show the contrast of history to present day, as well as the split, and the commonalities, between the two political parties. Materials used throughout the property include wormy chestnut, frosted resin, glass mosaic, stainless steel, and Carrera marble.
